Definition of Ex-Servicemen & Eligibility Criteria

For the purposes of this examination, the term Ex-Servicemen is as defined under:

  • The Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979, as amended from time to time
  • Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) Office Memorandum No. 36012/3/2021-Estt. (Res.II), dated 27 February 2023

Key Points:

  • Candidates currently serving in the Armed Forces will be treated as Ex-Servicemen only if they are due for release from service within one year from the closing date of the application
  • If the selection process takes longer than one year, such candidates will still retain Ex-Servicemen eligibility if released after one year from the last date of application
  • These candidates must possess the required certificate and undertaking as provided in Appendix-VI(A) and VI(B) of the official notification
  • Documents must be submitted by 25 March (as per official notification date)
6

Definition of Civilian Central Government Servants

The term refers to employees as defined under the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, as amended from time to time.

  • Must be currently working under the Central Government
  • Must submit valid documentary proof of service to claim age relaxation benefits
  • Only persons employed in civilian posts under the Central Government are eligible
  • Employees of State Governments, PSUs, or private organizations are not eligible under this category
7

Non-Relaxable Age Limits

Apart from the specifically allowed relaxations listed above, the age limit cannot be relaxed under any other circumstances.

⚠️ Strictly Enforced: Candidates claiming age relaxation must fall under precisely defined categories. No affidavits, personal hardships, or recommendations will be accepted as grounds for further extension.
📜 Proof of Age — Accepted & Rejected Documents

The only acceptable proof of date of birth for determining age eligibility:

✓  Accepted Documents
  • Matriculation (Class 10th) Certificate
  • Secondary School Leaving Certificate
  • Certificate from a recognized Indian University equivalent to Matriculation
  • Extract from the Register of Matriculates maintained by a recognized University, duly certified by proper authority
  • Higher Secondary or equivalent exam certificate issued by a recognized Board or Council
✕  Documents NOT Accepted
  • Birth certificates from Municipal Corporations
  • Horoscopes or religious texts
  • Affidavits or self-declarations
  • Service records or employment documents
⚠️ Strictly Enforced: The UPSC will not accept any document other than those listed above for verification of age. Candidates must produce the same certificate whose details were submitted in the online application.
9

No Change in Date of Birth Permitted After Submission

The Date of Birth entered in the online application form will be treated as final for all stages of the UPSC CAPF examination process.

Once recorded by the Commission, no request for modification or change in date of birth will be entertained under any circumstances, including future UPSC examinations.

⚠️ Warning: Candidates are strongly advised to verify their Date of Birth details carefully before submitting their application. Incorrect or false entries may lead to permanent disqualification.
🎓 Minimum Educational Qualification

To be eligible to appear in the CAPF (ACs) Exam, a candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree from:

Central / State Legislature University

A University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India

Parliament-Established Institution

Any educational institution established by an Act of Parliament

Deemed University (UGC Act)

Declared to be a deemed university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956

Equivalent Qualification

Any other qualification considered equivalent by the Government of India

N1

Awaiting Results — Provisional Candidates

Candidates who have appeared in a qualifying examination but have not yet received their results are also permitted to apply. Such candidates must provide proof of having passed the qualifying exam if shortlisted for the PST/PET stage. Acceptable documents include the degree certificate, final mark sheet, or provisional degree certificate issued by a competent university authority. This proof must be produced within the time limit specified in Rule 15, Sub-Rules 9.1 and 9.2 of the CAPF (AC) Exam Rules.

N2

Equivalent Examination — Special Cases

In exceptional cases, the Commission may allow a candidate who does not hold the above-listed degrees to appear for the examination, provided they have passed another examination that, in the opinion of the Commission, is equivalent in standard and relevance to the required qualifications.

N3

Professional & Technical Qualifications

Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognized by the Government as equivalent to a professional or technical degree shall also be eligible to apply.

🚫 Restriction on Re-Appearance: Any candidate who has already been finally selected or recommended for the post of Assistant Commandant in any CAPF through a previous UPSC CAPF examination is not eligible to apply again for recruitment to the same post in future exams. This restriction ensures fair opportunity for new aspirants and avoids duplicate selection for the same post.
🛡️ Ensuring Eligibility Before Applying

Candidates must first ensure they fulfill all the eligibility conditions prescribed by the Commission, including age, nationality, educational qualifications, and physical standards. The onus of verifying eligibility lies entirely with the candidate.

📝

Provisional Acceptance

Acceptance of an online application and issuance of an e-Admit Card is purely provisional — it does not confirm final eligibility.

🔍

Document Verification Stage

Eligibility documents will only be verified after the candidate qualifies for the Interview or Personality Test stage.
