As part of its commitment to inclusive and gender-balanced recruitment, the Government of India and the UPSC encourage women candidates to apply for the CAPF Assistant Commandant Examination. The aim is to build a workforce that reflects the diversity and balance of the Indian population.

The participation of women in the officer cadre of the Central Armed Police Forces is considered vital for modern policing and national security. Women candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are strongly encouraged to submit their applications and participate in the selection process.

📋 Examination Overview

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) Assistant Commandant Examination as notified in the official advertisement. This examination is intended for the recruitment of Group 'A' Gazetted Officers in the five major Central Armed Police Forces under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

Women candidates should be aware of the following key points regarding reservation and eligibility before applying.

Gender Eligibility for Appointment

Both male and female candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandant in all participating CAPFs, subject to fulfilling the physical and medical standards prescribed in the official notification.

  • Women candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are strongly encouraged to submit their applications.
  • Women candidates are eligible for fee exemption as per UPSC norms — SC / ST / Female candidates are exempt from application fee.
  • Women have featured in the merit list and been selected across all five forces.
⚠️ Note on Reservation: There is no fixed reservation quota for women in the CAPF AC recruitment. However, female candidates are actively encouraged to apply and have successfully been selected in all forces based on merit.
